What's the best medicine? No, not Valium. Laughter! What makes a dry, boring work meeting more upbeat? Humor! What takes the edge off a tense argument? No, not Valium, humor! Jokes, ha-ha's. Lighten up. Not just in your narrative, but in every aspect of your life.

Okay, less lecture, more info. I got it! The majority of sites are using questionnaires to get people to list their likes and dislikes. At first I didn't care too much for them, but having specific questions to answer can help those who don't know what in the world to write. Some of these questions asked are, "what are your favorite hobbies? What foreign country would you like to visit? What are your favorite foods? What are your favorite pastimes?" And "what do you like to read?"

Having the same taste in books could be the perfect conversation starter. Having a common interest in bird watching could easily turn into a first date. Heaven knows having the same taste in music can make a road trip more tolerable. Ain't nothing more annoying than driving for hours with your "dream date" tapping the steering wheel to country music when you are definitely a rap kind of girl.

Since I don't like revealing too much info until we talk, I usually answered most questions a tad bit sarcastic. (Gee, that's a shock.) I was surprised at the number of responses that I did get, even being sarcastic. Sarcastic, dry, or witty, guys LOVE women who have a sense of humor. We're so much easier to live with when we can laugh at something verses bitch at something. I'm sure I lost a few prospects in the process, but they were probably old fuddy-duddies anyway.

So shine through here people. Put some thought into what you write. Don't worry about putting what you "think" someone wants to hear, put what's in your heart. One wonderful, positive thing you write could make the difference between getting a response and getting deleted. If you start second-guessing yourself you won't come across as being genuine. And God knows we don't need any more "ungenuine" people out there!

One other thing to think about when writing your narrative or answering questions, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, DON'T USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IN YOUR AD! IT COMES ACROSS AS SHOUTING, OR THAT YOU ARE TRYING WAY TOO HARD TO GET A POINT ACROSS. IN OTHER WORDS, IT'S A BIG TURN OFF, SO I gently suggest that you please refrain from using capital letters. Well, you may want to start each sentence off with one, otherwise you'll come across looking like the second grade was pretty rough on you.
Try to keep this section short and sweet. We don't want to put anyone to sleep with our lifelong stories. Besides that, leave them curious about certain topics, it may give them reason to write back. If you tell every little detail right off the bat, you won't have anything to bore them with later.

Don't feel obligated to answer each and every question just because the questionnaire is asking them. You don't have to give out more info than you feel comfortable with.
